I love helping postpartum doulas learn how support families as they navigate their way through "the fourth trimester" — those tender weeks after birth! I became a postpartum doula in 2004 because I saw that we needed to do better supporting our postpartum families. After 10 years of serving new parents in the Silicon Valley area of California, I was honored when DONA International chose me to become a postpartum doula trainer. I believe in DONA International's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as great guides to help doulas focus on their clients as they transition to life with a new little family member (or two or three!).
Along with my work training postpartum doulas, I have also served in a variety of board positions with DONA International. I represented DONA's Northern California members in 2006 and was the Western Pacific Regional Director for 6 years. In 2014, I became the board's president elect and the first to be a solely postpartum doula! In 2016 I was honored to have served as president of DONA International!
I am proud to be a current member of DONA International and Lamaze International as well as a longtime member of my local organizations, Blossom Birth and BABI. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and supporting you as you get started in this amazing calling as a postpartum doula!
